Can’t stop to catch our breath now, there’s shipping to be done! We have some exciting updates to share: our project’s rebrand to Dive Domains, a bigger and better plan for decentralized DNS, and something special for our earliest supporters with existing reservations. Read on!
Diving right in
If you’ve been paying attention, well, some stuff happened recently. Kujira and its community have always been our inspiration, and although change is always hard we’re thrilled that the core of what makes it special to us lives on with the Rujira Alliance. Our fundamental vision and goals remain unchanged and the future looks bright!
To mark such a momentous occasion and to better reflect our project’s independence (and because all the cool kids are doing it) we have our own rebrand to announce: meet Dive Domains, a new look with the same great taste. Over the next few days you’ll see us transitioning to the new name and rolling out an updated website (our eagle-eyed community already spotted our new Twitter handle).
Aside from the name, we’re happy to say not much is changing. We feel reinvigorated and challenged to build the absolute best nameservice anyone has ever seen, and we aim to deliver with no compromises!
To .kuji or to .ruji?
It’s official, the merge of Kujira into the Rujira Alliance has passed with flying colors, with a new token $RUJI set to be the best thing to happen to money since humans started trading dried beans. We felt it would be appropriate to show support for this new alliance with a matching update to our planned root domain.
We opened a poll, and so far the community agrees–cast your vote and let us know!
Leveling up DNS
Owners of a Dive Domain deserve to feel like first-class citizens on the internet, and we plan to provide a truly seamless experience with our onchain DNS support. The technology is complex–we’ll break down all the details in later posts and docs–but the vision is simple: users will be able to access any domain on Dive the same as any other domain on the Internet, just type “example.ruji” right into your browser!
Configuring the service to access our domains will be simple and painless. No browser extensions with invasive permission requirements, this is the real deal. Owners will have the full expressiveness of DNS at their fingertips, and app builders can integrate Dive Domains in seconds using familiar and battle-tested tools.
Supporting our supporters
We can’t say it enough, we hugely appreciate the people who have shown us their trust and support while we get started here. We’re doing this for you, and to show how much it means to us we’re changing the plan for reserved names: every one of the roughly 100 accounts who sent a valid transaction to claim a name will get to mint that name when we launch at no cost, valid for one year 100% free and renewable at the standard rate.
