The Principles Behind “AmpliFi”

While dynamic and innovative, the Web3 and crypto landscape faces its own challenges—particularly in attracting new users. After all, establishing and maintaining a robust brand presence is essential for success in this competitive arena.

With new projects emerging daily, distinguishing oneself requires more than just a unique concept; it demands a committed community. But how do you stand out in a sea of innovation and constant change?

Most individuals in the Web3 space understand that community is vital. However, the depth and application of this concept is often underestimated.

The key lies in leveraging the influence of superfans and micro-influencers, with these groups playing a crucial role in driving organic growth, fostering a loyal consumer base, and encouraging newcomers to get involved.

So, what are superfans and micro-influencers, and how can brands leverage these groups to fuel growth?

The Role of Superfans and Micro-influencers

Superfans and micro-influencers make up the core of these communities, and whilst both represent untapped assets in mainstream marketing, they each embody unique identities that can be capitalized on to enhance brand adoption.

Superfans are exceptionally loyal customers who deeply resonate with a brand. They actively promote it through word-of-mouth, social media, and community events, creating a ripple effect that amplifies reach to new users. Beyond enhancing products and services, superfans encourage their networks to engage with them through expression and education of the value they offer.

This grassroots approach fosters a powerful advocacy network that elevates brand visibility and credibility for outsiders. Their unwavering dedication results in increased usage, strong customer relationships, and a vibrant community surrounding the brand.

In traditional marketing, superfans typically spend up to 300% more than average fans. While there isn’t a lot of analytics to correlate this to Web 3, it’s reasonable to assume that superfans in crypto are likely to invest more resources in their favorite projects—whether by acquiring larger stakes in the protocol, dedicating more effort to promote it, or even developing dApps and other complementary initiatives.

Additionally, Web3 users often exhibit “degenerate” behavior, which adds another layer to this dynamic, as they may take on higher risks and invest more impulsively.

Micro-influencers, while non-exclusive to superfans, refer to a unique set of community members within the range ~1,000 to 100,000 followers.

Their high engagement rates and tightly-knit communities make them particularly impactful in the online world. Followers often feel a personal connection to micro-influencers, seeing them as relatable and authentic figures. This authenticity enhances the effectiveness of their endorsements, as consumers are more likely to trust recommendations from someone they feel they know.

Projects such as Thorchain and Kujira have organically drawn AmpliFiers thanks to their commitment to outstanding technology and active community engagement, which emphasizes transparency and a robust ethical framework. This common ethos has cultivated a vibrant community, showcasing the remarkable resilience of these two networks, even without dedicated resources like Boon to support their growth.

An Important Note

With these definitions now clarified, we will refer to superfans and micro-influencers as “AmpliFiers” for the remainder of this article.

Case Studies of Applied Principles

Brands that nurture relationships with AmpliFiers can effectively tap into niche markets, in contrast to traditional paid influencers or key opinion leaders (KOLs), who may reach wider but less engaged audiences.

On a macro scale, applying these principles can create an adoption flywheel, similar to what is observed with some of the world’s largest brands. By understanding these principles, communities can significantly increase adoption. Some examples of various approaches used by some of the world’s largest brands:

Even the biggest names in Web3 such as Bored Ape Yacht Club or Crypto Punks fail to incorporate fundamental concepts of peer-to-peer marketing and instead, largely gaining popularity due to first-mover advantage and celebrity endorsement.

Since monetary incentives are the main driver of business development, this often leaves loyal superfans and micro-influencers without a robust, incentivized structure to capture and reward their effort and time.

That is, until now.

Harnessing AmpliFi Through Boon

Boon seeds the creation of superfans and micro-influencers with this knowledge through a comprehensive list of features that provide a unique experience across multiple arenas.

Let’s explore these briefly.

This approach not only encourages interaction that strengthens community bonds but also creates an “AmpliFier flywheel” that promotes content through incentivized social media actions.

  • Auction House (Public Marketplace) opens avenues for users to showcase and monetize their contributions, turning engagement into redeemable assets of all types – on and off the blockchain.
  • Immersive Experience (In-app Leaderboard/Reward Roadmap) gamifies user interactions in a new way, combining challenges with excitement and recognition. More to come on all of this shortly.
